We had a fantastic time on our Field Trip. The Campers and TIGRs got to explore all of Fort Hope. They participated in many different activities and enjoyed lunch and a special treat. Thank you so much to the staff of Fort Hope for giving out kids such a great day! Be sure to check out our big article in the Tok-A-Lot, written by our reporter, Arctic Fox.

About camphapitok
Camp Hapitok opened in 1970 sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education to provide an intensive educational program to elementary age children with communication disabilities. The pilot year proved very successful. Studies have since shown that some children make as much progress during four weeks of camp as they have made in an entire school year. Parents report that their children leave camp with new self-confidence and significant improvement in their communication skills. In 1978, Friends of Hapitok formed as a non-profit organization to support the camp.
In 2004, the American Camping Association, to determine if the program met over 140 unique standards, reviewed Camp Hapitok. In November 2004, based on the summer visit and paperwork supporting the standards, Hapitok was awarded accreditation. In January 2005, Camp Hapitok was awarded a Program Excellence Award, one of only 2 in our region. Camp Hapitok continues to meet and exceed expectations and is proud to be one of two accredited summer camp programs in San Luis Obispo County.
